Karwar : Several steps have been already initiated to maintain law and order during the upcoming assembly polls, ADGP Alok Kumar Said.
He was addressing a Press Conference at the SP office here on Friday. He was on his two days’ visit to the district with regard to the assembly elections. Four CRPF platoons have already arrived in the district in the wake of the election and in a couple of days more CRPF Jawans will arrive and they will be assigned to sensitive and hypersensitive polling stations in the district, he added.
The CRPF Jawans will be deployed along with the police force at various check posts. The Department has identified about 280 polling stations in the district “as sensitive” and the police and CRPF Jawans will be deployed in these polling stations, he said.
Strict action will be taken if law and order is disturbed during elections. Appropriate action will be taken against those who try to disturb communal harmony through social media. He also warned that no excuse will be given for such deliberate acts. The police department will take appropriate action in such situations.
Already 33 rowdy sheeters have been identified in the district out of which extradition proceedings will be initiated on 31 Rowdy sheeters and they will be extradited to other districts as a preventive measure after receiving orders from the Deputy commissioner, he added.
