Karwar :Deputy Commissioner Prabhuling Kavalikatti said that the problems of the fishermen will be investigated and solved by the concerned authorities.
In a meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner in the Court Hall on Thursday, he heard the current problems faced by fishermen in the district during fishing in the sea.
Raju Tandel, President of the District Fishermen’s Association informed about the problems of the fishermen and said that although the fishermen are fishing outside the restricted area of the Naval Base, they are facing a lot of problems in fishing due to atrocities by the the Naval officials. He further said that the fishermen in the district are fishing outside the danger zone identified by the navy but the navy officials are arresting the fishermen for no reason. If there is any violation by the fishermen, the Coast Guard Police should stop them and not the Navy officials, Tandel added.
ADC Raju Mogaveera, Additional SP C T Jayakumar, Dy. SP Valentine D’Souza, Deputy Director of Fisheries Kavitha, Naval Officers Rahul Panwar, Congress spokesperson Shambhu Shetty, Fishermen leader of Baithkol Vinayak Harikantra and others were present.
