Karwar : (Karwar Mirror News Service) : Janashakti Vedike of Karwar is distributing Milk to the Deaf and Dumb children of Ashaniketan every year on the day of ‘Naga Panchami’. The President of the Vedike Madhav Nayak says, it is a sheer waste to pour milk on the Snake carved Stones which is followed as a ritual on Naga Panchami Day. Instead, that milk can be served to the poor children.
Renuka D. Raikar, Senior Civil Judge and Member Secretary of District Legal Services Authority attended the unique programme and distributed milk to the students. Later speaking on the occasion she said that the work of Jana Shakti Vedike is commendable in this regard.
On this occasion daughters of Madhav Nayak, Madhura Nayak, Yashasvini Nayak and others distributed milk and snacks to the children. Students welcomed the dignitaries and later performed a dance program.
Advocate Sapna Gunagi, School Superintendent Sister Lynette, Vedike Members Rama Naik, Babu Shaikh, Ramesh Gunagi, Khairunnisa Shaikh, Suresh Naik, Sivanand Naik, Idin Alphonso, Fakirappa Bhandari, Chandrakanth Naik, Suraj Kroomkar, Altaf Shaikh, C.N. Naik, Sugandha Naik, Vinaya Prabha, Sister Pooja, Sister Vijaya, Sister Amisha, teachers Pushpa, Janaki, class 10 student Kritika, kitchen staff Sheela, Mangala and others have participated in the programme.
