Karwar : A record total of 24,095 cases including 20,845 pre-litigation cases in 30 benches across the district and 3250 cases pending in courts were disposed of in Rashtriya Lok Adalat held on Saturday, 11th February 2023.
A Press Note issued by Hon’ble Principal District and Sessions Judge Shri. D. S. Vijayakumar informed that as directed by Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, Bangalore, National Lok Adalat was convened on Saturday, 11.02.2023 under the auspices of District Legal Services Authority, Karwar and all Taluk Legal Services Committees of Uttara Kannada District. Related to the said cases, the total amount of money collected and paid is Rs 33,25,00548/- related to the financial cases of loan repayment, compensation, penalty etc. , the case wise details are as follows.
135 Bank cases Rs.1,54,52,966/-, 2,559 Labor disputes Rs.5,24,71,274/-, 42 Motor vehicle accident compensation cases Rs.1,26,80,000/-, 405 Cases of dishonor of check (u/s 138) Rs.7,57,40,108/-, 405 Other civil cases Rs.16,39,48,599/- and others. Total 24,095 cases Rs.33,25,00,548/-.
Hon’ble Principal District and Sessions Judge Shri. D. S. Vijayakumar and District Legal Services Authority Member Secretaries Renuka D. Raikar congratulated all the judges of the district, all lawyers, government prosecutors, police department, labor department, land and mining science department officials, other department officials, court staff, district legal services authority staff, clients, media representatives, city council who helped to settle most of the cases in Rashtriya Lok Adalat.
