Karwar : Chhatrapati Shivaji Jayanti has been celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervor under the joint auspices of the Kannada and Culture Department Bangalore, District Administration, Zilla Panchayat and Karnataka State Kshatriya Maratha Parishad at Mayuravarma Platform at Rabindranath Tagore Beach here on Sunday.
After garlanding and paying tribute to Shivaji Maharaj, Deputy Commissioner Prabhuling Kavalikatti said that Shivaji Maharaj is not limited to any one field, any one state or any one community and is a role model for today’s youths.
Later Chikmagalur MLA C T Ravi said that Shivaji Maharaj was not born rich, he was born in Bharata vamsha. Shivaji carved out his own independent kingdom from the declining Adilshahi sultanate of Bijapur which formed the genesis of the Maratha Empire, he added.
MLA Roopali Naik while speaking on the occasion said that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s contribution to this country is immense and it is a blessing for all of us that such a great leader has ruled this district as well. MLC Ganapati Ulvekar spoke on the occasion.
Later Shri Manjunatha Bharati Swamiji gave a spiritual talk on shivaji Maharaj.
