Ravi swings sword to mark Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti at Karwar

Karwar : Chikkamgaluru MLA C T Ravi said that Shivaji Maharaj was not born rich, he was born in Bharata Vamsha. He was speaking at the state level Chhatrapati Shivaji Jayanti organized under the joint auspices of the Kannada and Culture Department Bangalore, District Administration, Zilla Panchayat and Karnataka State Kshatriya Maratha Parishad at Mayuravarma Platform at Rabindranath Tagore Beach here on Sunday.
Ravi was felicitated by the local MLA Roopali Naik and presented him with a Sword. After receiving the sword he swung towards the crowd and the crowd shouted with slogans ‘Jai Shivaji’.
Before the program, MLA Roopali Naik performed puja to Goddess Durga at the Durga temple at Sadashivagad. Later, she flagged off the Shobhayatra organised from Kali River Garden to Rabindranath Tagore Beach.

Thousands of youths were seen wearing Saffron Pheta and waving Shivaji flags participated in the procession from Kali River Garden Kodibag to Karwar Beach. Many tableaux have been exhibited throughout the procession.

Youngsters are seen dancing to the DJ steps through out the procession.
Women outnumbered gents in the procession. Many women seen riding two wheelers and Bullet Bikes. The procession converged at the beautiful Pandal erected on the Rabindranath Tagore Beach.
Though the programme was organised jointly with the maratha community who also speak marathi, the state government reported to have instructed the district administration to use Kannada in the programme.
