Karwar : Members of Rotary Club of Karwar celebrated their Club’s 63rd Charter Day here on Friday. The club was chartered on 4th March 1960.
Speaking after felicitating persons in the community who have exemplified outstanding professional achievement while maintaining very high ethical standards, the District Governor’s Special Representative Rotarian Sharad Pai from Rotary Club of Belgaum said that the Rotary Organisation is doing lot of Community Projects through its ‘Global Grants’ for which participation from individual clubs is also necessary. Therefore, he advised the Clubs to initiate some innovative projects which can help the community at large. He also lauded the members of the club who have selected the right persons from the society for the “Rotary Vocational Service Awards”. Rotarian Sharad Pai is also the District Governor of RI Dist.3170 for the Rotary Year 2024-25.
The Assistant Governor Rotarian Prakash Shetty has said that the Rotary Organisation gives chance to every rotarian for one year to serve the community and within that period one has to work outstandingly for helping the poor and needy. He also appreciated the work done by the team of Rotary Club of Karwar for the year 2022-23.
Raghavendra Yadu Naik, “Tourist Mitra” Life guard on Karwar Tagore Beach, Mrs. Khalida Khazi a motor driving teacher, Rajanikant Ganapati Honnavarkar HESCOM Lineman, Ajeet Kadwadkar Petrol Pump worker and Shankar Gowda a village healer from Devalmakki village near here have been felicitated with “Rotary Vocational Service Award”.
Wives of senior past presidents of the club Smt. Vandana Ramadas Haldipur and Smt. Kiran Ganapati Bhandari have been felicitated.
President of the Club Rotarian Raghavendra Prabhu welcomed the gathering. Chairman of Rotary Trust Rotarian Krishnanand Bandekar presented the ‘History’ of the Club. Secretary Rotarian Gurudatta Bant proposed vote of thanks. Rotarian Shailesh Haldipur compered the programme.
