Karwar : Deputy Commissioner Prabhuling Kavalikatti informed that the Election Commission has issued Medel code of conduct for the Assembly Election 2023 in the state and all preparations have been made accordingly. He sought cooperation from all the political parties to observe Model Code of Conduct in its letter and spirit.
He was addressing a meeting of political parties arranged in the court hall of the Deputy Commissioner here on Wednesday.
He suggested that political parties should take prior permission from the election authorities in case of holding any funcions and to obtain permission from the concerned election authorities before publishing any advertisements in the newspapers.
ADC Raju Mogaveera, Assistant Director Information and Public Relations Jayant HV, Election Officer M A S Shaikh, K. Shambhu Shetty from Congress Party, Manoj Bhat from BJP, Sandeep Bunt from JDS Party were present in the meeting.
Deputy Commissioner further said that a total of 25 check posts have been established in the district and inter-state, inter-district and intra-district check posts have been established in such check posts.
He said that the participation of political persons in religious functions should be reduced, if they are found to be promoting the party, appropriate action will be taken against them.
He said that political persons should reduce their participation in social media as much as possible. Social media cell has already been started and it will work effectively.
He said that arrangements have been made for postal voting for senior citizens who have completed 80 years and disabled persons and they will be allowed to vote according to their wishes, he added.
