Canacona, Goa : Spectacular annual ‘Rama Navami’ Rathotsava (Car Festival) at Shree Parthgali Jeevottam Math has been celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervor near here on Thursday.
The head of the Math, Mathadhipati Shrimad Vidyadheesh Tirth Smamiji performed all the rituals. Since this festival is celebrated throughout the night, thousands of devotees visit Parthgali village which is quite adjacent to the main highway.
Many shop keepers and hawkers exhibit their products viz; Copper Vessels, Utensils, Pooja utensils, pooja materials, Cast Iron utensils, sweets and Toys. It has been the tradition of this festival that the nearby villagers bring their special ‘Bamboo’ made articles, products and different types of Baskets, for which the visitors wait and purchase.
Ram Navami is considered to be one of the biggest and auspicious festivals of Hindus. Lord Rama took birth on this auspicious day on the holy land of Ayodhya in Treta Yuga. This day is celebrated by crores of devotees across the world. This day is also known as Shri Ram Janmotsav. As per Drik Panchang Ram Janmotsav is observed on Navami Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Chaitra.
