Karwar Municipal Flower Market becomes a “Curse” to Vendors

Karwar : Mohammed Saab a Flower Vendor informed “Karwar Mirror” that the new Flower Market has became a Curse to all the Flower and Fruit Vendors. It is completing one year by May 2023 and they have already lost Rs.2 to Rs.3 lakhs as they lost the business completely after forcibly shifting them to the new market.
They further said with agony that the Municipal authorities have fixed monthly rent of Rs.1100/- which is a mere waste to them. They were finding it very difficult to make both ends meet and they once again preferred sitting on streets, another vendor Ganapati said.
Karwar City Municipal Council were on unrealistic ‘Awards’ spree like “Smart City” – “Clean City” since past two years and under this “greed of awards” thousands of poor street hawkers have lost their business. Drainage were overflowing in almost all the wards. Though two rainy seasons have passed since the new Council was constituted under the presidentship of Dr. Nitin Pikle, neither new drainage were built nor the existing drainage were cleaned.
