Karwar : Minister of Fisheries, Ports, Inland Water Transport and District In-charge Minister Mankal S Vaidya launched Gruha Lakshmi, a flagship scheme of Congress Government here on Wednesday.
In a grand function organised at Police Welfare Auditorium here, Vaidya said said that the state government is spending Rs.70 Crore per month to pay Rs.2000/- to the women heads of households every month of the district through the implementation of Gruha Lakshmi Scheme.
Gruha Lakshmi Scheme launched

Karwar : The Gruha Lakshmi Scheme has been launched at Police Welfare Auditorium here on Wednesday under the joint auspices of District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Women and Child Development Department and Karwar City Municipal Council. A total of 3.46 lakh women were eligible for Gruha Lakshmi Scheme in the district and out of which 2.97 lakh women have registered so far.
MLA Satish Sail, who presided over the program, said that the benefit of the guarantee scheme is being delivered to all without any political party discrimination, and said that the government’s another scheme ‘Yuva Nidhi’ will be implemented soon.
DC Gangubai Mankar, ZP CEO Ishwar Kumar Kandoo, SP Vishnuvardhan N, AC Jayalakshmi Raykod, Karwar CMC Commissioner Chandramouli, District Urban Development Cell Project Director Stella Varghese and others were present.
Deputy Director of Women and Child Development Department Dr. H.H. Kukanur welcomed. A procession of women Dance Troupes, Dollu Kunitha and Damami dance were the center of attraction of the day. DC Gangubai Mankar led the procession from Jilla Rangamadir.
