Karwar : It is predicted that children would be most affected in the third wave of Covid-19 which has created panic in society. In the wake this probability the District Administration has been directed to take all preparations and precautionary measures to control this prediction. The District In-charge and Labour Minister Shivaram Hebbar said. He was addressing a Press Meet at DC’s office Auditorium here on Wednesday.
The experts have suggested that the third wave will severely impact children. If the virus changes its course of nature, the children will be largely impacted. Reports suggest that the virus has already impacted children across the country, in the second wave. In the wake of such alarming situation the private and government hospital Paediatricians have been contacted and discussed through Video Conferencing and the necessary precautionary arrangements to be taken such as Beds, Ventilators, Oxygen, Ambulances and necessary medicines to treat in emergency, Hebbar said.
Arrangements have been made to set up isolation centres in each Gram Panchayats to control the present second wave, he added. It has also been decided to set up 25 bedded Children wards in Ankola, Kumta, Bhatkal, Sirsi, Yellapur and Dandeli.
In Uttara Kannada district there are 87 doctors and now the state government has posted 56 additional doctors to our district.
The COVID infected percentage has significantly dropped from 46% to 20% which is a very good sign, he added.
