Take precautionary measures before monsoon starts – Minister Mankal Vaidya

Karwar : Fisheries, Ports and Inland Water Transport and District In-charge Minister Mankal Vaidya has directed the authorities to take precautionary measures before the onset of the monsoon and disasters occur.
Speaking at a meeting specially called by the minister after swearing in ceremony as the cabinet Minister, regarding sea erosion, port and other issues organised in the meeting hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, he said that the departments which are providing facilities viz; health, electricity and drinking water to Schools, Anganwadis in the district should function with utmost responsibility.
After receiving information from the officials about the staff strength of their respective departments Vaidya said that if there is any shortage in their departments, the problem will be resolved.

HESCOM should ensure that least Power Failures occur – Minister Mankal S Vaidya

Karwar : Speaking on the ongoing problems in power failures, Vaidya said that , it is very important to ensure that there is adequate staff in HESCOM departments in this district. During the rainy season, the problems of electricity is more. Therefore, additional staff for emergency work should be made available at any point of time. In Health department also the officials should ensure that adequate staff is kept for emergency.
He also instructed the officials to provide power connection to the poor public who apply for IP sets within 15 days without delay.
Steps should be taken to prevent water stagnating on the road side during rainy season. He further said that the PDOs of the Gram Panchayats should perform the work very rigorously in rainy season to clear the blocked so that there should not be any problems for the public and school-going children.
He instructed very strictly to the IRB officials to complete the Highway work from Shirur Toll to Goa Border very fast. He also directed the IRB officials to submit pending work from Bhatkal to Honnavar and said if the work is not completed within a short period the officials will be made accountable.
At that point of time Vaidya was very angry and said “if the Highway work is done in such a low pace, we do not require such officials in our district and also we do not require such road construction companies which are not useful for the public”.

He further said that due to incomplete work, lot of poors, children and public are losing their lives. He  warned that if the officials show such type of lethargy, appropriate action will be taken against the officials and the companies.

Karwar-Ankola MLA Satish K Sail, Deputy Commissioner Prabhlung Kavalikatti, ZP CEO Ishwar Kumar Kandoo, Superintendent of Police Vishnuvardhan N, Probationary IAS Office Zubeen Mohapatra, Deputy Conservator Forest Dr. Prashanth Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Jayalakshmi Raikod, Dy SP Valentine D’Souza, district and taluka level officials were present in the meeting.
