District Administration explores Strategies to combat COVID-19 – DC Mullai Muhilan MP

Karwar : District Administration is exploring every strategy to combat ongoing second wave of COVID-19. Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan M P stated in a Press Conference held here on Tuesday. Mullai Muhilan said that all the preparations are being made in entire Uttara Kannada district such as Beds, Oxygen, Vaccines, Injections etc, and therefore he appealed to the public to cooperate with the district administration to fight the second wave successfully. He further said that in all government hospitals in the district 1830 Beds have been reserved for COVID patients out of which 1085 General, 48 Hypo Oxygen, 368 High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and simple oxygen Beds, 136 ICU Beds. In Karwar out of 562 general available Beds, 123 beds have been utilised. Out of 59 HFNC beds 5 beds have been utilised. Out of 368 simple oxygen beds 90 beds are available. Out 76 ICU beds 71 beds are available.

In addition to this, provision has been made to accommodate additional 65 beds. Therefore, in Karwar Government hospital there is no scarcity of beds. But, in emergency we have instructed Sirsi and Kumta government hospitals to keep sufficient beds. If Karwar is saturated patients will be shift to Sirsi and Kumta. ZP CEO Priyanga M speaking on the occasion appealed to public not to make rush at the RTPCR Covid Test centre. Those who are having COVID symptoms or primary contact persons only get themselves tested; otherwise patient in need will be delayed.

SP Shivaprakash Devaraju speaking on the occasion said that the inter district travellers can travel conveniently with COVID precautions. For inter taluka and rural movement the travellers have to obtain permission from Tahsildars, he added.
Dr. Shrinivas Shet – pulmonologist explained the precautions to be taken by the COVID patient as well as his/her family members.
