Karwar : Minister of Fisheries, Ports and Inland Transport Angara Sullia visited Karwar, Ankola and Honnavar on his whirlwind tour program recently.
Angara visited Majali, Devbag and Baithkol to assess loss due to recent Tauktae Cyclone and Monsoon. At Majali he inspected the site for proposed “Jetty” for landing fishing boats.
MLA Roopali Naik submitted a proposal to the minister to grant Rs.228 Crores for the construction of “Jetty”.
Minister also visited Harwada and Gabitkeni to assess loss due to recent Tauktae cyclone.
MLA Roopali Naik reported to have requested the minister to sanction Rs.6.5 Crores for Harwada and Rs.1 crore for Gabitkeni to construct sea erosion inhibitors.
She also requested to sanction funds for constructing breakwaters at Belekeri port. Responding to the request made by Roopali Naik, Minister learnt to have assured to sanction Rs.24 lakhs for the breakwaters study and design.
The officials of Fisheries and Ports and Inland Transport department were present.
